Such a wonderful day

Yesterday was such a great day packed with fun.
In the morning we had one-eyed monsters(egg in toast) and potatoes while watching the Sandlot. After our bellies were full we headed out to the Rexburg 4th of July parade.

The kids came prepared. Grocery bag in hand, ready for the floats to throw out taffy and half melted otter pops.
 The patriotic storm trooper.
We walked off with lots of free things and good sun burns.
After the parade we had shrimp and zucchini for lunch then headed out to the civil defense caves.
(Sorry the quality of these next few photos are so rough.)
This is the entrance to the cave. Right before we started our journey we ran into a snake and saw a giant marmot. YIKES! Nevertheless we moved onward into the dark.
Katie took the roll of being the leader in the adventure. This was a good thing because she was the one that had the best light source. My flashlight gave off a dim yellow light and Callie had a little bike light that would go out occasionally. My duty, appointed by myself, in the adventure was to give background on what the ancient graffiti on the walls meant. Callie's job was to not get hurt. She bravely climbed over rocks and walked on ice in stylish sandals.
It was nice being in the cool temperature of the cave. I would say it was 90 outside and maybe 60 inside. There is a good chance I'm way off with those estimations.... but the point is that it was hot outside and cool inside. It felt nice on my burnt face.
On our drive back to Rexburg we stopped by the dunes in attempt to set off a firework Katie found. The sand had been baking all day so our bare feet were on fire! We did not stay at the dunes too long.

We took another stop on our way home.
We pulled over at Red Road Bridge to put our feet in the water. The water felt so nice. We talked about how we wish we had brought our swimsuits. It wasn't long before we all just went swimming in our clothes. We swam up the stream and let the current carry us right back to where we began. Then I had the great idea of letting it carry us farther and just swim upstream again. Bad idea. Swimming upstream was MUCH harder the second time. You are lucky there are no photos from this stop. We looked really rough at this point.

We ended the day with a heavenly dinner at taco bell and watching the fireworks in Idaho Falls.
This is me getting well aquatinted with my aloe vera.

It wouldn't be a real fourth of july unless I got a sunburn.
