Fun Farm Bridge

Last week Chris and I jumped off of the Fun Farm Bridge.
I jumped once and Chris jumped three times.
The water temperature really wasn't too bad, but the height was something else.
It took about 5 minutes of standing on the edge for me to finally jump.
Chris kept saying 1........2......... and right before 3 I would say "I'm scared", so he would start over. That went on for about five minutes.

Have you ever been so scared you can't scream?
This had only happened to me in dreams before this jump.
When we made the leap I let out a scream then about half way down it just stopped.
I couldn't make a sound.
It was weird and freaky.

Part of me wants to go back and be more brave.

Rexburg Animal Shelter, Part two

Here are more photos from my Rexburg Animal Shelter documentary project.
You can see more photos from the first post here.
I've been learning a lot about animal photography through this project. Whenever I looked at professional photography of animals, before this project, it didn't cross my mind that they were most likely using trained dogs as their models. They made taking a portrait of an animal look so easy. I'm here to say it is not easy. Especially in film. Most dogs move A LOT. When you come down to their level they run towards you. Even though it gets frustrating sometimes, I'm still loving this project.

I have three more weeks of shooting time and after that, two weeks to make it into a book.
Bring it on.

Tacos and photos

This semester I have been relying on easier cameras to capture our daily life. Rather than hauling around my heavy-ish digital camera I've been snapping photos with cheap-lightweight disposable cameras, my fisheye camera and my phone camera. Once the semester eases up, work load-wise, I'm sure I'll get back into taking more "serious" photos. Until then I will have fun with cameras that would probably be destroyed in one drop.

This photo was taken when we went home to California for spring break.
It wouldn't be a trip home if we didn't eat at a taco truck for multiple meals.
Caden, Chris' youngest brother took the next four photos. I like that he chose to take photos of his bedroom, the family dog, the flowers and the front patio.
I'm a proud sister in law.
