Sunset Beach, CA

Today I decided with myself that someday, even for a short amount of time I will live near the beach.
The beach calms me down. When my feet touch the sand and I hear the waves the not important things in my head are forgotten. It's more than wonderful.

These are some photos I took while on a beach trip with some friends from Church. We went to Sunset Beach, right outside of Watsonville. I almost feel like this beach can be a part of my "home" series. This is where my family always went when we needed our "beach fix."

Can I go back yet?

Bushman Family Reunion

Last week I attended my family reunion in Paradise, Utah. The three days included talking, soaking my feet in the stream, playing with babies, talking, eating lots of good food, games, learning family history and talking some more. It was great. These are the things I saw:

Rexburg, ID poetry slam

This June Garrett Sherwood hosted Rexburg's first ever poetry slam. Not only was it great to listen to such personal words, but it was also a great opportunity to practice shooting in low light. The event went really well. It was refreshing to hear people talk about something different than school, deeper feelings. The town I live in is taken over by college students. Or, at least the five mile radius I'm in the middle of. I hardly ever see families in their 30's or elderly people. For the most part I only see students in their 20's. The benefit is that it's harder to feel alone in your journey through college because you are surrounded with people experiencing a similar journey, BUT I feel like I forget about other parts of life. The parts that are beyond college. This poetry slam aided me in remembering that there are more things going on in the world. It also made me realize that even though you may think everyone is on the same page up here, it's not completely true. The differences might not be all that dramatic, but everyone has their own life, worries and joys.

And that is my long way of saying that I enjoyed the poetry slam.
You should come when they start back up this Fall.
